I’ve wanted to see this film for a while now, being a fan of Michel Ocelot’s previous work, Kirikou and the Sorceress. He has a wonderful style of animation, and a good knack for telling traditional fairy tales and folk tales. In Princes and Princesses, he does something rather unique, which I was quite excited to see: the animation is done with cutouts, using only black silhouettes and brightly colored backgrounds to tell the story. I think this technique worked wonderfully in this instance, since this is in fact 6 short fairy tales, tied together by the fact that it is a teacher and his two pupils that are thinking them up/acting out each story.

I absolutely adore fairy tales, folk tales and mythology, and each of the story here takes place in a different culture, which was quite fun. The first story is called “The Princess of Diamonds”, and it is kind of a general fairy tale. The second one is called “The Fig Boy”, and takes place in ancient Egypt, inspired by hieroglyphs. The third is a medieval tale called “The Sorceress”. The fourth is a Japanese tale inspired by the works of Hokusai. The fifth is a Grimm Brothers-esque story with a bit of sci-fi thrown in (why not?). And the final one is a kind of parody of English tales. The nice thing about the smaller stories is also that it keeps the attention of little ones or those with short attention spans, as each is only a few minutes long.

And yes, it is only available in French with English subtitles, and some of those subtitles are not always correct or spell-checked. But my 11-year-old sister and I had no problem following the movie. All in all, I was very pleased with this little film. Definitely my cup of tea, and a wonderful addition to any fairy tale collection.

I watched another Michael Ocelot’s animation (Prince Quest), I really loved it, then I tried this one. It’s very interesting because the animation style they used. The story is well-written. My daughter and I enjoy it so much, eventhough she doesn’t understand French, she likes learning a new language.

Ok before I start, let me clarify something: Unlike the reviewers before me, I have actually SEEN this movie, so my review is not based on the graphic novel of which the movie is based, nor what the movie might be like based on who’s behind the making of it. I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE. Now that thats out the way, onto the good stuff.

I know a lot of Batman, Superman, and Batman/Superman fans were holding their breath on this one. With all classic the DC Comic character movies coming out lately (some of them not as good as others) it was reasonable to assume that “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” the movie could have gone either way. Well good thing for the loyal fan base, this was definitely a hit. I can say I am more then pleased with how this came out, and I have every intention of buying this DVD and watching it again the day it comes home with me.

One thing is abundantly clear when watching this movie: WB Entertainment, and more importantly, DC Comics actually LISTENS to their fans. One of my (and others) biggest fears in this was that we were going to be hearing some sub-par voice acting for the main characters involved, i.e. Superman, Batman, and Lex Luthor. As with past offerings from WB Entertainment (“Superman: Doomsday” for example) we got some weak casting for the voices of Lex and Sups. That alone detracts greatly from the overall enjoyment of the movie. With Public Enemies however, we have the best voices ever cast for the starring 3 roles: Tim Daily as Superman, Kevin Conroy as Batman, and Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor. For those who could give two flips about these guys, they are the same voices from the popular shows Justice League Unlimited, Batman The Animated Series, and Superman the Animated Series.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Superman/Batman: Public Enemies! Click Here

On top of superb voice acting, the animation is crisp, sharp and just plain beautiful. Again, faithful to fan feedback, the artists from Justice League Unlimited seem to have had their hands in this project, because the art is pretty much the same (which is by no means a bad thing), and it looks great. Almost straight from the comic.

Speaking of which, as far as the story goes, keep in mind while watching this that its an adaptation to the comic. That being said however, the movie stays remarkably faithful to the story told in the comic. Minus a few altered frames, scenes and situations, its like reading the comic all over again, except with no imagination needed to enjoy it. The story in general is a very good one, highlighting Batman and Superman’s friendship and giving you a glimpse into how deep it really goes. Granted, you get more of that in the comic then you do in the movie, but the movie compensates for the lack of inner dialogue with good script writing, full of the humorous exchanges between Sups and Bats and emotional moments and outburst we know and love from our favorite caped heroes.

This is a great movie, and you don’t have to have read the comic first in order to enjoy it. Even the review value is moderately high, I can and WILL be watching this again as soon as I can, and some more times after that. This is worth price, grab it and enjoy a motion picture work of art.

Peace

So I watched Superman/Batman:Public Enemies twice in one day after I got it. And I will keep this review short as most of the main points have been hit by the people who reveiewed this already (at least the ones that waited till it came out). So here’s my break down and the end will be final comments.

STORY:

It was adpated from Jeph Loeb’s first arc on the ongoing comic. Love it or hate it, but it was a very faithful adaptation, streamlining something that was basically a set up for the subsequent arcs as well as Infinite Crisis. It was silly, and balls to the wall, and the only gripe I had was not explaining why the Robot was a better choice than Luthor’s missles (Answer, robot was made of Metallo, not the guy, the alloy.) But hey all and all I liked what they did.

Characters (voice and portrayal):

WHOA! Okay I read the comics and almost forgot the laundry list of vilains who come out the cracks for the bounty. Batman and Superman were pitch perfect and their banter was great after seeing them so serious with each other all the time in Justice League and JLU. Tim Daly returning for Superman was great to have, though I’m one of the few that feel George Newburn’s performance as the character is just as good. Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown however are the quintessential Batman and Lex Luthor respectively. Props to getting CCH Pounder to return as Amanda Waller even if the charatcer model looked horrendous. Lastly the supporting charatcers were great. However I wonder why so much fuss was made about LeVar “Reading Geordi LeForge’s Rainbow” Burton as Black Lightning when he had one line. Killer Frost was a throwaway villain that had more to say. *Sigh* Wasted talent.

ART AND ANIMATION:

Again based on the source material, the art style took a muscular turn and was fully mimicing Ed McGuiness’ style where every male looks like a “Masters of the Uninverse” figure. I personally love his style and always though it would translate well to the screen. I was mostly right. They made Superman look too young, and I think it’s because of the eyes. McGuiness does the squinty look better than most, and we see this in Captain Marvel’s design, and in the comics Superman has the same look sometimes. That plus the cheekbone line makes him look a bit older. Well probably out of fear of backlash (last time they put lines on his face people said he looked too old, and in “Doomsday” he looked even older)they elft those lines out and he looks too young. Everyone else in my opinion looked fine. Okay Powergirl’s eyes bugged me too but I was distracted by something else.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I liked it. It was a great action flick, and didn’t need too much character development. It’s Superman and Batman, if you don;t know who they are why are you even picking up te movie. It’s a buddy flick with wall to wall action. My biggest issue is it felt rushed. At 67 minutes it’s like 15 minutes shorter than previous releases and could have really benefitted from them. That said if you like the characters and you like action this is worth it.

AFTERTHOUGHT:

The preview for the next upcoming animated feature, Jusitce League: Crisis on Two Earths was great. Yes I know after Public Enemies going back to new voices will suck but they got some good ones. Mark Harmon makes a pretty good Superman, I’m on the fence for Billy Baldwin as Batman (needs to be grittier), James Woods does an amazingly devious and twisted Owlman, and Gena Torres was great as SuperWoman. Hope you enjoy!

“Daddy, look at that big ugly alligator.”, “That reminds me, I gotta call your moma tonight.” THIS MOVIE IS FUNNY!!!
The first thing I noticed about SMOKEY and the BANDIT 2 was the quality of the digital transfer to DVD. It is done so well, I felt like I was watching a movie made a year ago(aside the old cars and clothes).
I’m 36 and this movie brought back tons of memories. “Son, why isn’t your gun loaded?”, “It’s too heavy when I put bullets in it, Daddy.” This movie is full of hilarious one liners. I found myself to be in a great mood after watching this movie. There’s a semi-sentimental tone that is, at times alittle cheesy but still, touching and not too overboard.
Everyone is fantastic in this movie. Even the gas station attendant is brilliantly funny. I really can’t think of one negative thing to say about SB2.
It’s as good, if not better than, the first BANDIT. I give it 2 thumbs up and a MUST SEE for anyone who loves to laugh.

I keep wanting to see this movie on DVD. To be honest I think this one is the funniest of the three, maybe not the best overall but the funniest. The banter between the Sheriff and his son take this movie over the top. Now if this movie and Used Cars could just be put on DVD…

The Twilight Zone: Vol. 3 is available for streaming or downloading.

When purchasing a DVD on any of the “Twilight Zone” episodes, I think it is safe to say that in the majority of cases the buyer knows those stories by heart. The main concern is one of quality. How does the picture measure up? In this case I have never seen better transfers. The images are excellent. They are sharp, clear and maintain consistent contrast. The laserdisc versions had a problem with black & white contrast. That problem has now been corrected.

Volume 3 contains A GAME OF POOL, KICK THE CAN, STEEL and WALKING DISTANCE. This volume is one of the best containing all solid episodes. WALKING DISTANCE is probably the best episode ever produced. Gig Young acts out Serling’s prose so perfectly that he speaks for every man that ever wished he could go home again. Very moving. Bernard Herrmann’s score intuitively picks up the emotion and heartfelt sincerity that Serling wrote into this story. This was Rod Serling’s, Bernard Herrmann’s and Gig Young’s finest work for any medium. I think it is the finest piece of work ever put on film. KICK THE CAN is thematically similar and also very moving. Again one of the best. A GAME OF POOL and STEEL pits man against the legends he makes and the machines he builds. STEEL is an episode that doesn’t instantly hit you. It has to grow on you and that may take years.

Rod Serling was a man of great literary and social intellect, somewhat ignored because of the genre he worked within and was famous for. “The Twilight Zone” frequently bordered on the edges of science fiction if not immersed in it. Society’s values being what they are, science fiction has never been thoroughly embraced by conventional thought as a legitimate literary or cinematic art form. That is society’s loss and Serling’s heartbreak. However, “The Twilight Zone” still endures. WALKING DISTANCE will remain in the heart forever.

Vol. 3 of the Twilight Zone DVD series is one in which every episode is a winner. The worst of the four, “Steel,” is a very good tale of what men think they can do themselves to bring themselves out of a difficult situation. “Kick the Can” is a touching episode that makes us reflect on fleeting youth and the idea that you are only as old as you feel. “A Game of Pool” is an example of superb acting. Jack Klugman and Jonathan Winters deliver more tension and excitement than any current television drama. Finally, “Walking Distance” is a brilliant look at trying to recapture youth and going home again.

On most other Zone DVDs, buyers are forced to stomach at least one lousy episode along with their favorites. This disc is an exception. Sure, the extras are not very “extra,” but for your money, Vol. 3 contains some of the best Twilight Zone episodes on one disc.

The legend is only one water horse lives per generation. When the old one is ready to die, they lay an egg from which the new water horse is hatched and must grow up on its own as an orphan.

In this case, a young boy named Angus McMurrow found the egg and helped the waterhorse hatch and grow. That’s not a mean feat, considering this is World War II and a cadre of British soldiers are staying in the manor house where Angus’ family lives. But if any kid is in need of a friend, it’s Angus. You see, his father went off to war–and Angus still believes he’s going to come back despite being told to the contrary. Angus finds a surprising ally in Lewis Mowbray (Ben Chaplin), a returning soldier who still believes in the old myths and is in need of a dream as much as Angus is.

Of course, the complication is the British soldiers led by a toff commander who’s noble father probably stuck him in Scotland to keep him out of the action. They think that the Germans are going to come down Loch Ness and they’ve got the guns and ammo to take care of the problem if they do. Not a healthy environment for a baby water horse to grow up in…

“Water Horse” is beautifully filmed. It captures the rugged beauty of Scotland amazingly. The soundtrack, by James Newton Howard (of Toto fame and too many soundtracks to name) is gorgeous. The music is perfect–as always.

Warnings:

Kids younger than five had problems with some of the scenes and a couple had to escort their frightened parents out into the lobby

Crossing a tale between an explanation of the fabled Loch Ness Monster with the backdrop of World War II, `Deep Water Horse’ comes across as `Pan’s Labyrinth’ for children. Full of whimsy and brimming with innocence, the movie is a harbor for the imagination.

Taking place in Scotland where the legend of Loch Ness has allegedly been spotted, an elderly man engages a couple at the local pub where he relates a fabled adventure of the past. Transporting us in the narrative to 1942, Angus MacMorrow examines some “magical shells” around Loch Ness to collect and take home. His father has been absent from The War for about a year now. Angus (perfectly cast as Alex Etel of `Millions’ fame) spots one and takes it home to his father’s workshop where he tries to pry through its exterior to find dazzling layers beneath. Being called away, it is a short time later that noise in the shop alerts him of some new development. Angus to his astonishment sees a creature waddling on the floor of his father’s shop. Looking much like a cross between a seal and a platypus, the awkward young thing soon takes a liking to Angus who feeds it and makes some space for him in a bucket of water.

The trouble is Crusoe, as he soon names him, grows very quickly. Trying futilely to keep him from his sister, Anne (Emily Watson), his mother (Lorraine McDonald), and a newly hired hand, Lewis (Ben Chaplin), he, nevertheless, puts him in the bathtub. Soon everyone except his mother is in on the secret, but once he grows too big, it is apparent he must let him go back to the water to accommodate his amphibious nature.

Enter the Scottish army. While they laudably provided for the Allies, they do make life uncomfortable for Angus and will soon do so for Crusoe when they find his presence in Loch Ness. Captain Hamilton (David Morrissey) is a reassuring presence for his mother, who certainly could use a man around the house, but the changes are certainly unsettling for Angus, who needs Crusoe as a reassuring outlet and companion. Crusoe is a nice escape for a boy who misses his father and must deal with a surrogate who knows little more than to say, “The boy needs more discipline.” (In this way I saw the closest parallel to Pan’s Labyrinth.)

The scenes when Angus rides and befriends Crusoe are a highlight of the film, and the playful voyage is filled with nifty special effects. Some of the chase scenes in the harbor and around the house keep a playful spirit to the adventure. Like ‘Stardust’ and ‘Enchanted’ before it, ‘Water Horse’ is an entertaining and fun ride. While some of the elements borrow a bit from the classic ‘E.T.,’ this film is original and transporting enough in its own right. (Based on the book by Dick King-Smith)

This sensitive documentary chronicles the lives several gender-bending and mind-bending sets of transsexual couples. The central character, who has become a man, is ironically dying of ovarian cancer. He was repeatedly refused treatment by the medical establishment because of his identity as a transsexual. The unconventionality of these individuals is touchingly contrasted with their fight for basic human rights, and their desire to enjoy the simple pleasures of domestic life taken for granted by most Americans. Despite some petty differences, they achieve compassion, humor, and tolerance in their interractions among themselves and with their “straight” families and friends. The dignity of their struggle brilliantly reveals that it is actually “mainstream” culture which is freakish, both in terms of its outrageous persecution and its irrational phobia of them. The final line of the film really stayed with me (I’m paraphrasing): “Nature delights in diversity, why can’t human beings?” I was tempted to give the film five stars but I felt the cinematography could have been more creative and the editing could have been tighter. In terms of content, though, this film has a rare and transformative vision which would merit the highest rating.

SOUTHERN COMFORT is everything documentary films (or ‘docurama’ as the film makers call it) should be: it is honest, illuminating, straight-forward, and technically well made. Kate Davis has given us insight into a community that is sadly neglected by society at large – the transgender community of male to female and female to male who are caourageous enough to follow their convictions that they were born with the wrong body. The film documents the last four seasons in the life of Robert Eads, a warm, crusty guy who was denied full gender change surgery by the medical profession in Georgia and thus still retains his cervix and uterus which have become malignant and eventually cause his death. His extended family of two other female to male friends (one of whom was given a botched breast reduction by the same medical profession), the two wives of these men (one a genetic female who had been married 7 times before to extremely abusive genetic males), Robert’s love Lola Cola (a male to female woman of beautiful warmth and support, and Robert’s own biological son (who still calls Robert ‘Mom’) and grandson. To see the way this quiet and lovely group of people stand tall in a world that despises them, who look forward to the annual Southern Comfort Weekend where transgendered people gather to nurture and celebrate each other, and who invite us into thier private lives is simply a beautiful experience for the viewer. Where other less sensitive directors could have made this film a sensational expose, Kate Davis has elected to keep it tender and true. Kudos to all concerned. This film should be in the archives of all Gender Studies programs.

If you’re tired (like me) of The Man keepin’ you down, then Jim Brown is the brother you got to dig! Black Gunn is a satisfying slice of Mob mayhem vs. righteous dudes. Takin’ it upside the head is Martin Landau as the Mob boss, doing a lot with a relatively small role. The soundtrack is real fine, especially the chase scene at the horsetrack. But can you believe that white boy trying to outrun the World’s Greatest Running Back? Disrespect The Man and check this out!

Black Gunn is perhaps the best blaxploitation flix that you never heard of. This uber-violent flick has it all: pale-faced bigotry, hot love scenes, wild gunfights, countless (& I mean countless) racist slurs, senseless murders and a powerful revenge. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I have ever seen a film with more racial slurs towards black people in my life (ie “nigger, you’re gonna go to that watermellon patch up in the sky”)… ah yes, there are no stones left unturned! The plot revolves around a black power dude who gets into trouble by kinda robbing the mob. After the botched robbery, the white racist enforcers catch up with him and sadistically off him. Enter Black Gunn (Jim Brown) who puts a hurting on the white man like never before. The bodies pile up as Gunn and his black power posse enact an unprecedented & bloody revenge against “whitey.”

I must say that nothing beats the real thing when it comes to anime. If you’ve been watching horrifically edited and altered version of Card Captor Sakura that’s broadcasted in the U.S. (even the title’s edited to Cardcaptors), or if you’re just looking for that next anime title to fill you’re growing collection, the UN-altered, UN-edited, UN-Americanized version is something that you shouldn’t pass up.

With this DVD American audiences and anime fans finally get to see the real program that so many in Japan fell in love with. All the humor and lightheartedness that the edited-Cardcaptors took out is back, including the small end segment “Leave It To Kero-chan!” And of course, Sakura’s usual task of helping Kero-chan retrieve all of the missing Clow Cards is there for your enjoyment. The only real problem with this DVD is that it includes the, well I’ll be kind, crappy Cardcaptors intro and song. But not to worry, it’s safely stowed away in the EXTRAS section of the DVD, so if you want to watch the original intro, you’ll see it everytime you start a new episode.

Why do I say that people watching Cardcaptors in the U.S. should get this DVD instead of the dubbed version (that’s right! Only the subtitled version with the Japanese track is on this DVD! *smile*)? Because with the dubbed version you don’t see the original work, the one that was so popular in Japan. What you see instead is a heavily edited and Americanized version that basically tries to take every element of Japanese society out of it. While this reigns true for nearly every dubbed anime title out there, Cardcaptors is by far one of the most prominent examples of this.

And why should you die-hard anime fans get it? Well, it’s just a really good series that, while yes it is designed for kids, can appeal to nearly everyone if they just sit down and watch it.

By just watching the first four episodes contained on this DVD one can see just why this series was so successful in Japan and how enjoyable it actually is. And if you’re already a fan of Cardcaptors? Hey, nothing beats the REAL thing.

Before anything else, a word on the content of the disc: “Cardcaptor Sakura” is a subject of much passion among anime fans, because of the existance of “Cardcaptors”. I will refrain from trying to assess and pass judgement on that series here (there are others who do, both in these reviews and on websites, neither of which are hard to find if you want opinions); suffice to say that although CardCaptors is derived from Cardcaptor Sakura, it is not the same program. This disc (“The Clow”) is presented completely uncut and unedited, with only the Japanese language track and optional English subtitles. (Hint: the subtitles are hidden under the Extras menu, and are turned off by default.)

Now, the review proper. I like Mr. Solomon’s characterization of the series as “sweet but never sacchrine”, for this is really the heart of the matter. Many anime fans who consider themselves “mature” (or for that matter, if they are male) may be turned off by the focus on elaborate costumes, the relentlessly pink cover, and the fact that most of the cast in this series consists of ten-year-old girls.

But, speaking as both a male and someone who watches “mature” anime (Cowboy BeBop, Evangelion, Haibane Renmei come to mind), I implore people who might think these things to stop and reconsider. Despite an outward appearance that may be called “childish”, “Sakura” in fact contains a strong and interesting story with strong and interesting characters. Sakura herself manages to be an engaging heroine, while still seeming realstic in her tussles with her own day-to-day affairs.

Now, granted, in the world of “Sakura”, no plot line (especially on this first disc) ever goes completely beyond the ability of the characters to ensure a happy ending. But at the same time, the anime (the scripts for which were supervised by Ookawa Nanase, the writer of the original manga series) never fails to create tension and suspense even as you’re assuring yourself that this show would not let anything truly terrible happen to its inhabitants.

There’s even reason for those who have faithfully read the “Cardcaptor Sakura” manga to check out this anime–although the basic plot is the same, the actual execution is quite different in both forms. Cards Sakura catches in the manga appear in different orders and are conquered in different ways, and the anime also involves a number of Cards that don’t appear in the manga at all.

The animation is crisp and bright, and the voice actors do an excellent job all around. But above all, it’s next to impossible to watch this series and not feel good. The energy and upbeat personality of the series comes through everywhere, and is thoroughly infectious. Not the simple or even shallow show it may seem at first, Sakura can be enjoyed by anyone of any age, and all fans of anime (and of fun cartoons and good storytelling, for that matter) owe it to themselves to give this series a chance.

Precis of the show: An art major working as a temp on the reception desk of a genetics lab is caught up in a mishap that leads to her being recruited as an agent-in-training by a uniformed man (no, not officially uniformed like a cop or a mountie, and not spandexed and/or masked like Batman or the Lone Ranger; think 1950′s Army knock-off, starting with the Eisenhower jacket) who introduces himself as “The Middleman”, a secret agent working for a secret agency with a secret agenda to save the world and to fight evil no matter where it is found (so that we “don’t have to”).

Before she knows it, our temp receptionist, Wendy Watson, is in the middle of the adventure of a life-time, fighting evil right along-side the Middleman (aka MM). And what adventures they are: fighting aliens from space disguised as the members of a boy band, collaborating — or not — with vampires who run a fashion company, entering Hades to prevent world destruction, dealing with evil alter-egos in an alternative universe, etc, etc, etc… and many of these adventures are handled before breakfast. Figuratively speaking, that is.

“The Middleman” is a loving parody/spoof of just about every genre any fan has ever been deeply, madly, eternally in love with… and I should know, ’cause I’m that way about all of them: most obviously, of course, is the general SF category — but within this genre there are also the “robots are our friends — or are they?” genre, the “invaders from space walk amongst us” genre, the “secret masters of the universe” genre, the “alternate universe” genre, the “Batman&Robin” genre, the… but why go on? If you’re an SF fan, chances are you’ll immediately recognize one or more of your favorite “what ifs” in every episode of “The Middleman.”

And that’s NOT to say that this show is derivative or recycled. On the contrary, Javier Grillo-Maxauch, the creator of “The Middleman”, (who quite obviously is the SF Fan Supreme) has given every “what-if”, every “do you suppose”, every “could it be” that form the basis of all good SF tales those special little JG-M twists that raise his premises from “gosh darn good” (to paraphrase MM himself) to truly outstanding.

So. You start with a great concept; add exceptional writing (and, may I say, writing that was much too adult for ABC Family, the cable station that aired the episodes and dropped them after only twelve episodes); follow with casting that is absolutely spot-on for each character (I mean, even with the great writing, many actors would fail to make the Middleman anything other than a Dudley Do-right caricature, but Matt Keesler makes his nameless MM a three dimensional person — even if he *does* drink milk and eschew any language more colorful than “heck” or “darn”); and finally, have directors who know how to handle parody and satire without making it so “over-the-top” that it fails to connect. The result will be that you have a timeless series.

I was hooked right from the start of the first episode, when Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales), our soon-to-be Middleman-in-training (Middlewoman? Middleperson? Middlebeing?), was completely unflappable in the midst of being attacked by a composite monster created in a genetics experiment gone wrong: “Andromeda Strain” sub-genre, of course. And I was *really* hooked the first time we met Wendy’s roommate, Lacey Thornfield (Brit Morgan), and realized that in these two young women Grillo-Maxauch had given us two strong female roles unlike any others on TV.

And yes, with gorgeous guys and beautiful women on display, the romance genre is definitely on view here, in all its permutations: true love, unrequited love, love denied, love willingly embraced, etc, etc, etc. Interestingly, the requisite UST (unresolved sexual tension, for those who don’t recognize the initials) in this show is not between MM and Wendy, but rather between MM and Lacey (who would really much rather NOT have her love be unrequited, thank you very kindly — and I agree, which is why I adore the twist in the final episode which does, and yet doesn’t, resolve the unresolvable).

So, we have both the SF and the romantic fiction genres in this show. What else? There’s enough action-adventure to please any fan of the genre, enough friendship to satisfy any buddy-movie fan (the relationship between Wendy and MM and between Wendy and Lacey both qualify in this category), and enough “secret shadow government/agency” shticks to grab the Bourne audience — provided they’re willing to accept humor in the plots to take over the world.

I loved the show so much, I paid $1.99 per episode from i-tunes “just in case” the show never made it to DVD. But even with all the episodes sitting on my computer, I’m *still* gonna shell out the money to pick this set up as soon as it’s released. The Middleman needs his fans.

This show aired on ABC Family, so it didn’t get many viewers. It started out at 8 but then moved to 10 because the subject matter, I guess. I didn’t know what to expect from the show when it started but I grew to love it and can’t wait to get the dvds. I want to watch it again. The creator of the show said that the show is not 100% canceled. They’re in a holding pattern to see how this dvd set sells. So, I’m buying it as soon as it comes out. I can’t wait. Please buy this!

Also, I’m very excited that this show is being released by Shout! Factory who has put some the best dvd sets out, including Freaks and Geeks and My So Called Life. I know that they will do this show right.
